Fuer ein paar Tage mussten wir nach Catania auf Sizilien. Wir haben uns entschlossen nicht in Catania direkt zu uebernachten sondern etwas ausserhalb. Acicastello ist ein kleines Fischerdorf nicht weit entfernt von Catania und hier haben wir im
Bed&Breakfast I Faraglioni Villa Jole uebernachtet. Es war ein Genuss und wir koennen es nur weiterempfehlen.

Sicily is not only the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. And it is not only the part of Italy. Sicily is like a country. It is not only a province or a region, but the whole country with its own language, cuisine, traditions and its unique rhythm. Kindness and cordiality are appreciated here not less than money. Smile is a symbol of hospitality.

Sicily is like the universe in miniature, like a steam-boiler in which Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome were hard pressed together with arabs, normans and bizantines. As a result we have a magnificent “soup” made up of masterpieces of the world architecture, the sea, the sun, the olive groves, lemons, rosemary and lots of legends, which are difficult to believe, but which are real truth. But the word “soup” is practically not used on Sicily. So let it be “minestrone”.

We can’t speak about Sicily using a French word “a la”. This island is Authentic from the roots of orange trees till the Ethna crater, from the foundation of the ancient Sellinunt till the grievously known tiled Corleone. We can’t say that Sicily is like something. We may say that something is like Sicily.

Sicily is not the place for idleness. It is the place for spending holidays. Holidays on Sicily are like an enchanting sight. Here the nature starts its exciting dance of saltarello which is continued by antique theatres of Sirakuses, temple squares of Palermo, fishing boats of Taormina, luxurious villas of filmstars and patio in the peasants’ houses of Caltanissetta.

Sicily is considered to be one of the poorest regions of Italy. But the poor people of Sicily are different from the poor people of the other world, because they know exactly that if they leave Sicily they might be able to become rich, but surely they will lost the island which they loved. Sicily is faithful to those, who are devoted to the island. That is why the people of Sicily give all their hearts to their motherland. They can’t but love this place because there are all things here which help them to enjoy their lives.

Turismo in Sicilia A Terrasini il primo intervento per lo sviluppo integrato del territorio

Un marchio di qualità territoriale che mette in rete e sul mercato le eccellenze e le tipicità ambientali, culturali e produttive. È il Sistema Itinerario, un progetto che ha l'obiettivo di creare un´offerta turistica innovativa, attraverso l'applicazione di una metodologia studiata ad hoc e approvata da un tavolo tecnico formato da esperti del settore. La presentazione dell´iniziativa giovedì 9 Aprile 2009 presso il Museo di Palazzo D´Aumale di Terrasini, alle ore 16, con il seminario di presentazione del progetto "Sistema Itinerario Torri e Castelli" - Un intervento di qualità per lo sviluppo integrato del territorio", promosso dal Consorzio Cult di Palermo. Il progetto rientra fra quelli finanziati dalla misura 2.03 del POR Sicilia 2000/2006 "Gestione innovativa e fruizione del patrimonio culturale" della Regione Siciliana di competenza dell´Assessorato Beni Culturali, Ambientali e Pubblica Istruzione.
L'area d'ambito interessata è quella del Pit 17 Torri e Castelli, con la città di Terrasini e i comuni di Isola delle Femmine, Capaci, Cinisi, Balestrate, Trappeto, Borgetto, Partinico, Torretta, Giardinello, Montelepre e Carini; un'area che vive e si sviluppa grazie al turismo e alla vocazione manifatturiera e agricola. Il primo intervento diretto sarà l´azione di valorizzazione della "Festa di li Schietti", che vedrà il suo clou lunedì 13 aprile con la tradizionale Alzata dell´albero. Un primo esempio di come, partendo della mappatura di beni e servizi, è possibile definire gli standard di fruizione dei siti e delle risorse presenti su un dato territorio per poi certificarne la qualità e quindi l´effettiva fruibilità. La SI Premia Card (la carta che permette di acquisire vantaggi nelle operazioni di acquisto di beni e servizi nell'area), costituisce lo strumento di fidelizzazione del progetto.

Al seminario interverranno i responsabili del Consorzio Cult - promotore dell'iniziativa, Girolamo Consiglio - Sindaco di Terrasini, Antonio Giannettino - Vice Sindaco e Assessore alla Programmazione del Comune di Terrasini, Patrizia Li Vigni- direttore del Museo D'Aumale, Ignazio Buttitta - Docente di Storia delle Tradizioni Popolari dell´Università di Palermo. Chiuderà i lavori Antonello Antinoro - Assessore ai Beni Culturali, Ambientali e Pubblica Istruzione della Regione Siciliana, che a seguire presiederà alla cerimonia d´inaugurazione del nuovo Centro Servizi Turistici Torri e Castelli di Terrasini, in Piazza Duomo n. 39.

With a total surface area of 25.460 sq. km, Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean basin. Around it lies a number of smaller islands: to the north the Aeolian islands and Ustica, to the West the Egadi, and to the south the Pelagie islands and Pantelleria, making a total surface area of 25.708 sq. km.

Sicily boasts around 1.000 Km of coastline, mostly rocky in the north and sandy in the south.

The landscape is varied, prevalently mountains and hilly, but with an expanse of plains around Catania. In the eastern part of the island Mount Etna (about 3.330 m) is Sicily's highest mountain, the whole of which is a protected area within a national park. Still active, it is the biggest volcano in Europe. Along the north coast, from east to west, lies a stretch of the Peloritani and the Nebrodi and Madonie Mountains, some of their peaks reaching 2,000 m.

The area to the West of the river Torto has an irregular lime-stone formation, patchy or continuous, alternating with low rolling hills. Over to the east of the island, between Messina and Mount Etna, lies the easternmost tip of the Peloritani chain, very similar to the mountains of Calabria.

The Southeast corner comprises a series of high plateaus made up of lava, tuff and above all limestone, and features a number of impressive gorges carved out by water erosion through the centuries. The innermost part of the island is predominantly hilly, consisting mainly of the so called Altopiano Solfifero (literally the sulphur uplands), with altitudes ranging from 500-700 m. Its summit, however, with the snow, rises to almost 1.OOO m.

Sicily's principal cities include the regional capital Palermo, together with the other provincial capitals Catania, Messina, Syracuse (Siracusa in Italian), Trapani, Enna, Caltanissetta, Agrigento, Ragusa. Other famous Sicilian towns include Cefalù, Taormina, Bronte, Marsala, Corleone, Castellammare del Golfo and Francavilla di Sicilia.

l'aqua non ha prezzo

Cinisi - E' stato presentato anche a Terrasini, alla biblioteca comunale “Claudio Catalfio”, il libro dal titolo: “L’acqua non ha prezzo – il caso Palermo” di Salvo La Spisa ed Ernesto Salaria.
Il libro è strutturato in 2 parti: nella prima parte si ripercorrono le tappe fondamentali della storia dell’ATO idrico Palermo1; nella seconda parte invece vi sono le proposte del comitato civico e le critiche sull’operato del commissario straordinario sull’affidamento del servizio idrico integrato riproponendo le esperienze di Arezzo, Grenoble e Parigi. Ovviamente si tratta di un libro di denunzie. Abbiamo intervistato uno dei due autori del libro: Salvo La Spisa.

Dopo la pubblicazione del libro quali sono i prossimi impegni del Comitato civico Libera Acqua?
R.
Nei prossimi giorni presenteremo una giornata di incontro-dibattito sul tema dell’acqua in gestione pubblica organizzata con casa Memoria e Libera Acqua.

A che punto è la lotta per la gestione pubblica dell’acqua?
R.
Giorno 28 il TAR del Lazio si pronunzierà nel merito del ricorso di alcuni sindaci della provincia di Palermo sulla gestione privata dell’acqua ed è una tappa fondamentale nel procedimento giudiziale in atto. Il comitato civico ha intenzione di consultare i cittadini della Provincia sul tema dell’acqua pubblica.

Secondo voi il processo di privatizzazione si può fermare?
R.
Sicuramente si, ma è fondamentale l’intervento dei cittadini nella difesa del bene comune AQCUA.

Alla presentazione del libro, nonostante siano state invitate non hanno partecipato le amministrazioni di Cinisi e Terrasini, forse la loro assenza potrebbe essere addebitabile alla raccolta delle istanze per la restituzione del canone di depurazione?
Ad oggi diverse centinaia di cittadini di entrambi i paesi hanno presentato le istanze di rimborso.

Castelmola bei Taormina in Sizilien Urlaub erleben und entdecken

Ein mittelalterliches Bergdörfchen oberhalb von Taormina, berühmt für seine weite Aussicht und den zuckersüssen Mandelwein "Vino alla Mandorla", bei dem Vorsicht geboten ist.

Das Dorf liegt ungefähr fünf steile und kurvige Straßenkilometer von Taormina entfernt, zu erreichen mit Bus oder Auto oder zu Fuß in etwa einer Stunde über einen Treppenweg, wobei die Aussicht für die Strapazzen belohnt.

Der Ort erfreut sich bei Touristen einer besonderen Beliebtheit. Einerseits weil der Besucher von hier einen Sagenhaften Blick auf den Etna und auf Taormina hat, andererseits weil das Stadtbild selbst sehr reizvoll ist kleine Gassen, eine schöne Einkaufstrasse mit Souvenirgeschäften und so einige nette Restaurants

Am höchsten Punkt der Stadt befindet sich das ehemalige Castell von dem heute nur noch einige Mauerstücke erhalten geblieben sind. Hier findet regelmäßig eine kleine Raubvogel-Darbietung statt, dressierte Falken und Eulen können in einer Show bestaunt werden. Ebenfalls auf dem Gelände des Castells wurde ein kleines Museum eingerichtet, welches einige mittelalterliche Ausstellungsstücke aufweist und recht liebevoll gestaltet wurde, der Eintritt ist frei. Von hier hat man auch einen tollen Überblick über die Dächer von Castelmola.

Eiszeit - nicht in Sizilien

Deutschland: Eine weitere, lange Nacht geht nun in der arktischen Polarluft zu Ende, und auch diese war in der Mitte Deutschlands wiederum klar. Ähnlich wie gestern kam es dabei häufig zu Tiefsttemperaturen unter -20°C, dabei war es in dieser Nacht auf den 7. Januar 2009 sogar noch etwas kälter als in der Nacht zum Dienstag, dementsprechend wurden neue Kälterekorde aufgestellt.
Eiszeit lieben wir, wenn es sich um Eis im Becher oder in der Waffel handelt, aber nicht wenn es draussen zu kalt wird.
Hier bei uns in Sizilien hoeren wir diese Schreckensnachrichten nur im Fernsehen und sind heilfroh, dass hier das Wetter noch wunderschoen ist.
Am 7. Januar 2009 haben wir uns auf unserer Terasse die nach Sueden geht, 2 Stunden in die Sonne legen koennen und haben die Temperaturen genossen.
Als warum nicht mal im Winter nach Sizilien reisen, Sie werden es nicht bereuen.

Wenn schon das Wetter im Augenblick nicht ganz mitspielt, so sind doch wenigstens die recht zweigeteilten Meinungen zu unserem Weihnachtssymbol auf der Piazza ein Grund fuer viele, sich hier zu versammeln, und nach dem auch noch der Fernsehsender gestern Abend einen langen Bericht ueber Terrasini ausstrahlte, ist es ein absolutes Muss einmal hier gewesen zu sein.
Uns gefaellt der Weihnachtsmann, aber warscheinlich auch, weil wir jedes Jahr einige Monate in Amerika verbringen, und dort Uebergrosse Pappmaschee Figuren eine Normalitaet sind........

Il nuovo Babbo Natale a Terrasini

Terrasini - Un putiferio. E´ quanto sta succedendo a Terrasini dopo che l´ammnistrazione ha installato il nuovo pupazzo di Natale. Al centro della piazza troneggia un Babbo Natale in versione estiva, tre metri di altezza, coricato con la sua sedia sdraio verso la Chiesa, sotto l´ombrellone, in costume da bagno, un tatuaggio e le lattine di birra al lato.
Sul costumino rosso si appuntano le critiche. "Troppo piccolo - dicono in piazza - con gli attributi in evidenza. Blasfemo - dice qualche altro. Alcune mamme si sono mobilitate e non porteranno i loro bambini in piazza per il Natale. I pareri sono discordanti. Il consigliere Antonello Randazzo difende la scelta. "Una cosa simpatica - dice - Altri non si pronunciano. Il consigliere Gianfranco Puccio, invece, esterna il suo disappunto con una lunga lettera nella quale definisce stupido il pupazzo in versione estiva e carnevalesca. "Come si può accettare - scrive nella lettera - la scelta effettuata dal sindaco Girolamo Consiglio e dal suo assessore, Sergio Misuraca, di quel Babbo Natale che troviamo in piazza Duomo. Una scelta che mortifica le nostre tradizioni, la nostra cultura, la nostra religione - e invita l´amministrazione a rimuovere la stupida installazione.
Di certo c´è che sul Natale e sulla Piazza il Sindaco e il suo assessore pare proprio non ne imbrocchino una. Dopo lo scempio dello scorso anno, della piazza prima chiusa il 7 dicembre, poi aperta a metà e al buio fin dopo la befana, il babbo di quest´anno le ha superate tutte.
Il sindaco difende la scelta. A chi critica risponde che tutti vengono a fotografare il babbo natale della piazza e che se l´avesse fatto Sgarbi l´avremmo considerato un´opera d´arte. I bambini, forse i più direttamente interessati, non si pronunciano mentre tra i grandi, alcuni dicono che quelle palle rivolte alla chiesa sono proprio di cattivo gusto e non c´entrano nulla con l´arte, altri non capiscono perché stanno diventando terreno di scontro politico

Billigflieger Ryanair setzt seine Tiefpreis-Kampagne fort: Noch bis Sonntag, den 14. September 2008, können sich Reiselustige günstige One-Way Tickets ab 1 Euro inklusive Steuern und Gebühren sichern. Das Angebot gilt für alle Ryanair-Strecken und bezieht sich auf den Reisezeitraum von September bis Oktober 2008. Alle aktuell freigeschalteten Billigflüge seien eine Attacke auf die teuren Mitbewerber. Die irische Billigfluggesellschaft garantiere, dass niemand diese Preise unterbieten werde, so Anja Seugling, für Deutschland zuständige Sales Managerin bei Ryanair.
Vom Flughafen Bremen starten die Ryanair-Flieger beispielsweise in Richtung Fuerteventura, Trapani und Teneriffa. Ab Frankfurt Hahn geht es unter anderem nach Alghero, in die italienische Hafen- und Universitätsstadt Bari oder nach Porto.
